Here on vacation wanting to eat some really good seafood. That's what you get when you go to Surf Rider. You won't be disappointed. I would be surprised if there is a better crab cake in the area.

My first time coming here. The place is away from everything at the corner. It was hard to find but the food has Great flavor. A lot of choices to chose from. The servers are friendly and quick to serve. The food is every homey and it taste fresh. I really enjoyed myself. And I will ask for the waitress Storm. She is friendly and quick to serve.

I have eaten here several times and also at the Hampton location. I am always pleased by the food and service at the Diamond Springs location. I had the signature crab cake sandwich and it was excellent as usual. There was large portions on the seafood entrées my family ordered. The waitress was attentive to us and the customers. You have to try the crab cake sandwich.

I will admit that I didn't order seafood...so this review is more about the experience...not the food. I need to preface this with the fact that they were NOT busy...it was our party and about 4 other tables. Food and service was ok. My problems: 1. They charge for refills...everything except tea and water...that was absolutely crazy to me. Should have been warned. 2. We had a big party and many people's side dishes (lima beans, collards, potatoes, etc) came out cold. 3. Toward the end of the meal, the air conditioner was turned off or down...it got extremely warm in there...uncomfortably warm.

The food is great. The service is always top notch. I had the she-crab soup tonight. It was like a thick rich bisque. For my main I had the crabmeat and shrimp. It was wonderful. The other consistently terrific item is the crab dip. It is rich and creamy. No matter which surf rider you go to you won't be disappointed.

Great food. Fourth night in town and by far the best. Crab is fantastic, steak was great, and fresh tuna blackens was really good. Jackie was a cutie and great service. Collard greens were a treat Will come back here every time I'm in town.

Love this location, but some things have changed. The potato cake was like cardboard. I always order fried shrimp, excellent, waitress was great, the fried flounder, is my husbands favorite. We eat there quite often with family.

It pains me to do this but... We visited recently and found that they no longer have the parma rosa pasta with the pasta purses! It was the best pasta around and for some reason (not given to us), they killed it off. We don't care if we ever go back.

This place is good, sometimes the food can be bland. I ordered their chicken and dumplings and some kind of soup with a tomato broth one day and it was so bland I had to return it and get something else. I prefer ordering off their specials menu for that day, because they're greatly priced and it's different things you may not find in their menu. Their food is mostly fried, which isn't my favorite, but when they have their she crab soup, I love getting it. It's the best i've ever tasted! The service is slow, i've come to this location many times and I think i've only received quick fast service once. So be patient with the girls that are working, and don't come here too hungry because you may not be taken care of fast enough.

What's up with my favorite Surf Rider? This is always where we take guests for the best seafood around. We went there Sunday afternoon and ordered our usual oysters and the lunch special of flounder. The oysters were mostly breading and overcooked - yuck. I'm not sure if they have changed how they do oysters or if these were frozen but they simply were not up to Surf Rider standards. The flounder, too was overcooked - another yuck. Surf Rider you are slipping! The scallops came out fried instead of broiled - looked overcooked, too and the request for soft broccoli had been ignored. The waitress noticed and send it back for more steaming. The only item that was properly prepared was the crab legs from the raw bar. Not sure what's going on the kitchen, but we are long-timers with Surf Rider and this meal was simply not up to par!

Came for takeout and sat at the bar, great atmosphere. Thursday night, not too packed or busy and recieved immediate service. Ordered signature crab cakes (always a hit), fried clam strips, flounder and shrimp po boy. Food was great, especially the clam strips. Bartender was very helpful, she advised us the best items to order that saved us a few bucks. She also suggested the wine and beer on special that's going out of season while we waited. Overall, food was cooked just right and seasoned ok. The flounder could hqve used a little more seasoning but still quite fresh and tasty. Surf Rider is always a good bet

Very disappointed we were not able to make a to go order over phone. Person who answered the phone did not explain why, just shut me down and said no. Made me think twice about ever eating there. This location suffers with service, have long wait times before. And no apology for waiting. For a individually owned business, they do not strive for your return.

My friends love Surfrider, but this restaurant just doesn't do it for me. It's either seafood or nothing here. And since I don't do seafood, I can't fully appreciate it. They have a large menu, but I nothing I get excited about and definitely nothing overly creative. I do like the casual dining. It's almost like a diner inside. Come to think of it, the food is kind of diner-esque! Kind of on the simple side. Also, the service is friendly and always right on the mark. Not much going on as far as location. Not when you consider the seafood restaurants on Shore Drive offer a bay view as well as nearby nightlife.

Unbelievably awful. Went there at approx. 1:30pm on a weekday and would not go again. The service was patchy at best - we seemed to have a very flaky waitress who couldn't get the simple things right (refills on coffee, sodas, etc). The food? No one in our group felt it was noteworthy enough to qualify for a return trip. The shrimp tacos are a joke - basically a sprinkling of cole slaw on a flour tortilla with about 4 grilled NOT deveined shrimp for each (you get two). No cheese, tomato, onion - nothing. And these "tacos" come with homemade potato chips...NOT tortilla chips. A terrible rip-off for over $10 a plate. The other dishes served at the table were just as "bare bones" in the way of fare. If you are the least bit discerning about restaurant service and menu quality, don't go here. It is very disappointing from start to finish.

Service is one thing this place has going for them. The servers were all sweet as pie and kept up with our very large group better than I've seen at some 5 star places! They have a small room off to the side for large groups that you can reserve ahead of time. The place is clean, too! There are no beers on tap but they do have one local offering in a bottle. The food, I dunno man. If you like overcooked or fried seafood, you're in good company. Actually, if you like overcooked anything. The broccoli I ordered was not only the largest serving of broccoli I've ever seen, but it was cooked so long it was falling off its little broccoli bones. Not that you'd touch it with your fork and it would collapse into a puff of smoke, but it was definitely southern style. We seemed to have several Surfrider devotees in our group, but to me the food was lacking in sophistication and talent. If you're just looking for a basket of fried clam strips, some mashed potatoes and broccoli the size of your face, you've found your home. This would be a great place to take kids.

Ate there for dinner on 12/23 while visiting family during the holidays. The property is nothing to look at, but the food was excellent. I had the special, which was beef medallions, Oscar crab cakes and asparagus with a baked potato (could have had salad.) It was enough food for two, cost $20 bucks, and it was delicious. Katrina the waitress was very sweet and provided good service during a busy Sunday evening. Try it, but don't judge it on its strip mall exterior.

Everything I expected from a crab cake on the East Coast! Not breaded, not over seasoned and not mushy! This giant sized crab cake was all crab served with a whole head of broccoli if you choose that for your side and hush puppies that are crisp yet moist inside! I'm definitely a fan of this cute lil place and will be back next time I'm in town! Thank you Jackie for the awesome service and thank you cousin Brad for bringing me! The price is totally reasonable for what you get : )
